Monday Meditation: Just Sitting
Desert Rain Zen has shifted to an online format for our upcoming events because of the coronavirus pandemic. If you'd like to join us but haven't received email instructions from us, please email us at desertrainzen@gmail.com or nathanso@arizona.edu
Monday Meditation, co-sponsored by the University of Arizona Contemplative Pedagogy Faculty Learning Community and Desert Rain Zen, meets on Zoom every Monday from 12:30-1:30. Monday Meditation is “just sitting”: two 25 minute meditation periods with a 5-10 minute break in between the two sits. Basic meditation instruction will be available, but other than that it’s just an opportunity to sit, with no frills. Please sit however you are comfortable: on a meditation cushion or bench, in a chair, or whatever works for you. It’s fine to join for either meditation period, or both: 12:30 for the first meditation period or 1:00 for the second one. Please just enter the Zoom room quietly, mute your microphone, and join our meditation. For a URL and password, please email us at desertrainzen@gmail.com or nathanso@arizona.edu If you have questions, please email us. All are welcome! More on how to get URL and password for our events: because of widespread recommendations on preventing "Zoom bombing" of events, we're now using a password for our Zoom sessions. The event URL and password go out with event reminders sent to everyone on our email list. If you'd like to receive one-time event information, or want to be added to our regular email list, please contact us at either desertrainzen@gmail.com or nathanso@arizona.edu here's a description of our regular program, currently on hold: DRZ is now holding a Monday Meditation session at Little Chapel, from 12-1 each week. It will be “just sitting”: two 25 minute meditation periods with a 5-10 minute break in between the two sits. Basic meditation instruction will be available, but other than that it’s just an opportunity to sit, with no frills. There are benches and chairs to sit in as well as meditation cushions and mats. It’s fine to come to either sit (or both): 12:00 for the first meditation period or a bit after 12:30 for the second one. There’s limited parking available in the Little Chapel parking lot (SE corner of First Street and Highland Avenue on the UA campus). You may park in available spaces (but not in Reserved spaces) from 12-1 (but please don’t remain in the lot outside of those times). After parking, please check in at the Little Chapel office before joining the sit (if you’re running late, you may skip this step). If there are no spaces available: there’s a pay garage on Second Street just east of Mountain, about two minutes away, and there are other pay garages around campus.)
