Dana

Please Support DRZ

Desert Rain Zen welcomes and needs your support.

You can support DRZ through your gift of Dana. Dana is a Pali word usually translated as giving or generosity. It’s the first of the Paramitas (Perfections) and the foundation of all the others.

There are many ways to support Desert Rain Zen:

  • Your practice, presence, and participation. This is essential to the life of our group. Gathering together, we offer support and encouragement to others, turning the wheel of the dharma. DRZ offers several opportunities: weekly meditation, Tuesday study group, monthly all-day sit, and our annual retreat.

  • A work offering. There many opportunities: helping set up and restore the Little Chapel at weekly meditations, bringing flowers, preparing tea, serving tea or food, and cleaning up.

  • A service offering. You can offer to learn one or more of the various service positions needed to lead the weekly meditation services (such as timekeeper, cantor, or teacher’s liaison). You can attend our monthly business meetings, contributing your input to DRZ planning.

  • A monetary contribution. DRZ has financial needs, and it’s through the generosity of such contributions that we are able to subsidize retreat fees, making retreats more accessible for everyone; support our teacher in his generous offering of time and effort devoted to our group; and offer dana from DRZ to the Little Chapel, which generously allows us the use of their building free of charge. (You can participate in DRZ’s budgeting decisions by attending our monthly business meetings.) Your dana is DRZ’s sole financial resource. We are a federally recognized non-profit, making your contributions fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

  • Amazon Smile. Another way to contribute monetarily is to participate in the Amazon Smile Program. Amazon Smile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on Amazon Smile, the Amazon Smile Foundation will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice. You simply designate Desert Rain Zen as your charity of choice. More information can be found at http://smile.amazon.com/about

However you choose to support DRZ, we welcome your offer of dana with gratitude.
