Sunday Sits
Desert Rain Zen has shifted to an online format for our upcoming events because of the coronavirus pandemic. If you'd like to join us but haven't received email instructions from us, please email us at desertrainzen@gmail.com or nathanso@arizona.edu
We will be holding sits on Zoom each Sunday from 3:30-5:00. We'll get settled in; sit for one period; talk together, usually about a koan, for one period; sit for a few more minutes; and close with our vows. All are welcome! If you'd like to receive the zoom link for upcoming events, or want to be added to our email list, please email either desertrainzen@gmail.com or nathanso@arizona.edu.) and . . . here's our pre-pandemic program, which we're putting on hold till further notice: Desert Rain Zen holds regular weekly sits on Sunday afternoons from 3:30-5:00 at the Little Chapel of All Nations on the University of Arizona Campus. Our sits are free and open to the public. We welcome old and new meditators. Please try to arrive by around 3:15 to give yourself time to get settled in. Please try to arrive a little before then if you’d like orientation to sitting or to our group. In general we alternate 25 minutes of sitting meditation and 5 minutes of walking meditation. Chairs are available for those who aren't comfortable sitting on cushions. On second, fourth, and fifth Sundays we have two sitting periods (interspersed with a walking meditation) followed by tea and some form of dharma talk and discussion. Optional Work in the Room is usually available second and fourth Sundays (during the two sitting periods). The first Sunday of each month we hold a Koan Seminar. Third Sunday is our monthly Sutra Service. |
Next Sunday Sit: March 19, 3:30-5:00 on Zoom: sit and koan conversation
